My time at the Priory Girls School from 1947 to 1950

By Patricia Judd (formerly Musgrove)

I went to the Priory Girls School with my twin sister Maureen Colclough, my sister Frances and my brother Maurice went to the Priory Boys. Maureen and my first class room room was with Miss Lawrence and our last class room was with Miss Knight. The head teacher being Miss Douse. My best friend at the school was Barbara Ingram and to this day after all these years we are still in touch, Barbara lives in Great Yarmouth, I live in the New Forest, Maureen in Gerrards Cross and Frances in Lexton, Nr Colchester. Our brother Maurice unfortunately sadly died in July 2021. I have often wondered how many of the Priory Girls are still alive and would like to hear from any of them that remember my sisters and myself.

I have just written an article under Patricia Colclough and I need to amend that to Patricia Musgrove. My father's name was Colclough and unfortunately, he was killed during the World War 2. My mother remarried Cyril Musgrove and my stepfather insisted that we were called Musrove even though the name was not changed by Deed Poll, but when my mother divorced my step-father we reverted back to our father's name Colclough. I have written this to put the records right, so any of the Priory Girls that attended the Priory Girls School from 1947 to 1950 would recognise Musgrove rather than Colclough.
