SS Queen of the Broads

Having worked on the Queen of the Broads in her last years of service right up to the year she was scrapped in 1976. She would have been 87 years old then so here are some photographs of her in her hey days. The only part of her which survives is the engine in black gang chine and the boiler plate and a name plate.

My Great grandfather George Minister Powles was engineer/driver on the Norwich Belle in the 1950's. He resided in the Fishermans hospital Market place after spending most of his working life at sea. Anyone have any info or photos I would be most interested.

Really interested to stumble across this site and in particular this comment by Deborah. George Minister was also my great grandfather via his daughter Elsie, who moved to Norwich after being bombed out of their home in Gt Yarmouth in WW2.

I have a photograph of him on a boat. I will see if I can upload it.
