During the 1950s & 60s Great Yarmouth beach was packed with holidaymakers: building sandcastles, swimming in the sea and lounging on deckchairs enjoying the sunshine.

Mrs Fowler remembers how busy the beach used to get during the summer months.

"Very busy, very popular, in between the two piers used to be absolutely packed. The deckchair man Mr Dusty Miller, he used to, all his deckchairs were always out, always, and you couldn't put a bin where there wasn't people lounging about in deckchairs."

I was born in 1951 and went to good old Yarmouth with my parents at Easter, Whitsun, and in August every year.This picture brings back a million happy memories. The beach was always packed in summertime. Does anyone remember the ice cream man with the white beret who called out "Rub-a-dub-dub" as he walked along the beach selling his wares.
