Yarmouth has always had end-of-the-pier shows, and many famous names have appeared on the Britannia Pier, including Mike and Bernie Winters and Jim Davidson, who has always had an interest in Great Yarmouth: he even bought the Wellington Pier, which he renovated, and went on to run shows there for several years.

In the 1950's and earlier, the pier produced more 'traditional' fare, as can be seen from the 'Paint the Town' programme.  The shows ran from Easter to the end of September in those days.

(Steward and Patterson were a local brewery.)

The Pier still continues producing shows today, but the season seems to have grown shorter, with the shows starting in June.
