Shipwrecked Sailors' Home

Photographs of the Home and its caretakers

By John Layton

The Shipwrecked Sailors' Home has stood at 25 Marine Parade for over a century, receiving those unfortunate enough to be wrecked in the local area, be it on the many sandbanks or through enemy action during the two World Wars.

When it closed in the second half of the 20th Century, it became the Maritime Museum, holding many exhibits depicting Yarmouth's seafaring past.

When the Maritime Museum itself closed recently, the exhibits were split, between the Nelson Museum on the Quay and the award-winning Time and Tide Museum.
