Theophilus Witter Swindell by Owl Class

In Owl Class we went down to the Hall and drew pictures of Alderman Swindell from the picture hanging above the door.

We also wrote about his life based on research that we did.

Alderman Theophilus Witter Swindell was born on 6th of January 1850 (that was 168 years ago!). He was an accountant in a bank. He was manager at Barclays Bank. He had two wives both named Harriet. If he was alive now he would be 168 years old. He had two children. One was a girl and one was a boy. Their names were Ethel and Percy.  He was 80 years old when he died in 1930. He became mayor in 1909 and was an Alderman in 1912.

Theophilus Witter Swindell got married twice and he worked at a bank for 47 years. Also he died on 22nd November 1930 in Great Yarmouth. Our school was named after Alderman Swindell, who was Mayor of Great Yarmouth in 1909 and in 1903 was manager of Barclays Bank for 14 years and he was born 6th January 1850.
