John Grimmer sent in a photo of my class at St Andrew's school.
Julia, I am in the second row, second in from left. I lived at 8 St Nicholas Road. Next door to our fish and chip shop. I do remember you from your hair! Big and blonde.
Are you able to scan any photos to me please? Or can I pay for some copies of the Priory. My Sister Linda Colby also went to the Priory Girl's School and recalls there was a separate Priory Boy's next door.
Miss Douse was our Headmistress - a formidable woman with a pointed nose. Her nephew wrote in on this site and confused me by calling her Miss Rouse. Maybe a typo as another contributor also referred to her as Miss Douse which confirmed my recall.
Hope to hear from you and others by email. Thanks to John Grimmer for sending in that photo. By the way, I did not have Mrs Bishop standing over me. I ate everything in sight. Always starving.
