On 23 October 1880 Robert Symonds (whaleman) husband of Harriett (nee Catchpole) was lost at sea out off Yarmouth when the Saucy Maid was run into by the Mary Ann Matilda. Robert was 26 years old and 2 others lost their lives that day. 15 year olds, Chas Thompson and Job Brown. Does anyone have any more info on this tragedy? Robert was my husband, Eric Beckett's great grandfather.
