Death of an old favourite

Postcard bemoaning the demise of the horse-drawn tram

By John Layton

A postcard issued to bemoan the demise of the horse-drawn tram on July 4th 1905, to an 'electric shock', after 30 years of service!

And to think that the internal combustion engine was designed to overcome pollution - that of the horse!  And never mind the fringe benefits - it was good for the roses!
