River Yare from the air

photograph of Bollard Quay, Gashouse Quay, Fish Wharf, c1960?

By Paul Douch

A fantastic view of the Yare from the air, showing fishing boats moored 4 or 5 deep on the Southtown bank and bow-to-quay on the South Denes side.

Whilst the location of the photo is easily identified as Bollard Quay, Gashouse Quay and the Fish Wharf, I'm not sure exactly when it was taken.

With the electricity pylon, the gas holders & the Retort House chimney visible on the right, I'm guessing on the late fifties or early 1960s ...
